What we aim for
We design the marketing site and practice app toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a target, not a certified audit. Known product realities:
- Primary text sits on a near-black background with gold and off-white for contrast.
- Focus is shown with a gold outline for keyboard users.
- Pages use a language attribute (
lang="en") and heading order. - Decorative logos use empty alt text so screen readers skip them; meaning lives in nearby text.
- We do not install third-party “accessibility overlay” widgets. Those often fight your own tools.
Keyboard
- Tab / Shift+Tab moves between links, buttons, and fields.
- Enter or Space activates a focused button or link.
- Escape should close dialogs we add (including the cookie notice, once it has focus).
- The practice app uses the microphone and, optionally, the camera. Those are browser permission prompts, not SpeakNow-only chrome. You can refuse them and still use typed text where the product allows it.
Speech, captions, and vision
- SpeakNow is a speaking product. Audio recording is optional if you can paste or type what you would have said.
- Camera analysis is optional and off until you turn it on.
- Reports are text. You should be able to copy, zoom, and read them with a screen reader.
- If a demo video or motion sequence is added later, we will provide a text equivalent. You can also turn on
prefers-reduced-motionin your OS; we should respect it for non-essential animation.
If something is blocked
Email support@usespeaknow.com with:
- The page URL and what you were trying to do.
- The browser, OS, and assistive technology (for example, VoiceOver on Safari, NVDA on Firefox).
- Whether the issue is contrast, keyboard trap, missing name, captions, or something else.
We will try to reply within a reasonable time and tell you what we changed or cannot change yet. This help page is our public contact for ADA / accessibility requests related to the website and app.
