1. What we actually use

SpeakNow is built as a practice tool, not an ad network. Today we do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other advertising cookies. We still need a few storage technologies so the product works.

Strictly necessary storage. Browser localStorage / IndexedDB holds practice sessions, reports, and UI state on your device. The cookie banner stores your choice (speaknow-cookie-choice) and, if you click it, a do-not-sell flag (speaknow-do-not-sell).
Fonts. The marketing site may load Inter, IBM Plex Mono, and Newsreader from Google Fonts. That is a network request to Google, which may see your IP address and user agent. It is for displaying the site, not for ads.
Security and delivery. Our host may set a technically necessary cookie to route traffic or stop abuse.

2. What we do not use (right now)

Advertising cookies or pixels.
Cross-site tracking for a marketing profile.
Selling personal information for money.
“Sharing” as California law defines it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

If we add analytics or ads later, we will update this Policy and ask for consent where the law requires it before setting those cookies.

3. Your choices

Enter: acknowledges this notice. The site works, including local sessions and fonts.
Essential only: same necessary storage; we will not enable optional analytics or ads if we add them later for that browser until you change the choice.
Do not sell or share: records a California-style opt-out preference. We do not sell or share for ads today; the flag is stored so we honor it if that ever changes on this device.
Cookie settings in the footer reopens the notice.
You can also clear site data in your browser. That deletes local sessions and the stored choice.

4. California: do not sell or share

SpeakNow does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can still record an opt-out preference with the button in the cookie notice or by emailing support@usespeaknow.com with the subject “Do not sell or share.”

We do not have actual knowledge of selling or sharing personal information of people under 16.

5. GDPR-style consent

If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction: necessary storage is used to provide the Service you request. Optional tracking would require consent. Until we add optional trackers, there is nothing extra to opt into. Google Fonts requests are described above; you can block third-party fonts in the browser if you prefer system fonts.

6. Children

We do not use cookies to profile children. The Service is not directed at children under 13. See the Privacy Policy for COPPA-related rules.

7. Retention

Consent / do-not-sell flags stay in this browser until you clear them or change them.
Session files stay until you delete them or clear site data.
We do not keep a server-side cookie profile of you for advertising.
